Rear Swing-out Syncro and Vanagon Tire Carrier
Featuring urethane bushing hinges, the Burley Motorsports swing-out Vanagon tire carrier is absolutely the best on the market. Urethane has a special shock absorption quality that protects the van body from vibration damage and eventual cracking of the body panel where the hinge plate is mounted. Other brands use cheap-quality solid hinges that have no insulation qualities to them. All genuine BMS tire carriers feature smooth laser-cut, hidden-from-sight mounting brackets. Designed for the van owner with large wheels, our design also features a nice ramp slider latch design for smooth and easy closing, also helping spread the load/weight of the spare tire so it is not all on the hinge.
Another great feature of our design is the adjustable opening and closing resistance. This makes it easier to keep it open on a slope and prevents small children (and large fingers!) from the danger of it closing on them prior to engaging the fully open position safety lock pin.
When we designed this swing-out tire carrier, we wanted it to feature all the best qualities we could think of, along with the high-quality workmanship for which Burley Motorsports is famous. So this unit comes with a wheel mounting flange that is adjustable “in and out” to fit any wheel offset depth. It is made from heavy-gauge steel tubing, not thin tubing or cheap flat bar or angle iron like other carriers. It comes in an unpainted, steel finish so that you can powder coat / paint it any color you desire. Do not be fooled by imitations made to copy our incredible design. As always, we are proud to say that this product is made Burley, right here in the USA!
Please choose which side of your van you would like the tire carrier to attach to if you are behind the van, facing forward.

My tire carrier story Couldn't be more pleased with this tire carrier. In fact, I waited a couple months to get one. It definitely opens and closes with ease and at the same time, it appears to be a very solid build. Looks great on the van too.

Tire Carrier This tire carrier far surpasses the others on the market. It was an easy install, and I am very pleased with the sturdiness of the carrier. I would recommend this carrier to anyone who wants to put one on their van. No shake, no jiggle, no annoying noises. I paid a few extra bucks and know I have something that will last. Thanks Burley Motorsports!

My first BMS product and I will say that I am very impressed. This tire carrier is sturdy as an ox. With my last carrier just about CRACKING my van body, I was worried. I was told to come to you and am I l glad I did. It opens and closes with ease, and seems so much stronger than the one I had before. I put my extra large tire on this baby and it holds is upright and steady. No wobbles, no fears! I recommend this to everyone!
